Meet the Creative Team Behind Rupert
Phoebe Shackeroff: Director, Producer, Editor
Growing up in Seal Beach and spending a lot of time on Balboa Island as a child inspired Phoebe's twin loves: the ocean and the arts. In addition to "Rupert the Swan," she is the director/producer of "The Last Fishing Village," a documentary about a Hawaiian culture in transition. Phoebe holds an MFA in cinema and television production from USC, and a BA from Yale. She is also an alumna of the Orange County High School of the Arts' Visual Arts Conservatory. When not working on documentaries, Phoebe is a freelance producer in Los Angeles. She is also Founder of the USC Women of Cinematic Arts alumnae organization.
Taran Reese: Cinematographer, Visual Effects, Co-Editor
Taran was born in Hawaii and raised in Los Angeles, where he lives today. He holds an MFA in Cinema-Television Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts (2004), and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Pomona College. Taran started his career in Silicon Valley, and now works as a filmmaker and multimedia storyteller as Head of Production at Cyberia Media. Recent clients include Sender Films, The Last Fishing Village, and Associated Television International. He is currently Senior Editor and "Motionologist" at Cyberia Media, a design and production company in Santa Monica.
Gay Wassall-Kelly: Co-Producer
Rupert's "faux mom" is the mother of five grown children, so when Rupert the black swan wandered up to the beach in front of her house in 1993, it was natural for her to make sure he was cared for well. Publisher of the community newsletter, Balboa Beacon, Gay featured Rupert's antics on the front pages of the Beacon on a regular basis. When not under deadline, Gay has a passion for rescuing native wildlife.
Daisy Church: Animator

Gerard K. Marino: Musical Arrangement
Gerard K. Marino was the principal composer of Sony Playstation's GOD OF WAR I and II, the first of which won an Interactive Academy Award for Best Score, as well as the Game Audio Network Guild's "Music of the Year" Award. He has scored 6 feature films, several commercials, and his music can be heard in countless thatrical motion picture trailers.He studied at University of Southern California's Graduate program in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television. www.gerardkmarino.com |
